Reviews after Discharge!

On 18 Dec 09, Little ReAnne and me are allowed to go home already.
Little ReAnne's jaudice was 10.9 but the Dr Yip, the PD gave the nod to let her go home and come back for review again on monday!!

On monday, both ReAnne and me got appointment with the doctor.
This time, Dr Yip can see her jaudice has increase so was asked to go for a blood test to see her jaudice level.
After waiting for 45mins, Dr Yip say our princess got to admitted as her jaudice level is 20.9
Somemore she got to go into Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Dr Yip say this will be better for her as there are fewer babies and more nurses. So she can get better care from them.
But still, Mummy is so sad to hear that princess got to be admitted.
Lucky after 1 night of "Light Bathing", she was transfered to normal nursery ward.
Mummy feels so much better! But still sad to leave her there alone!
After 2 days of "Light Bathing", princess is allowed to go home!
And today is her 2nd review and her jaudice is so much better!!
Hurray!
Another best thing is she is back to her borned weight too!!
Mummy is so happy that princess is gaining weight!!

** The Birth Story of ReAnne **

The Birth Story of ReAnne!!
Is not as exciting as other people whose water bag broke or baby is already coming out on the way.
Is not that long that lasted for 10 over hours.
So, in other words, I'm quite a lucky gal!

2plus am - Woke up by the contraction pain
(start to time the contraction)
4am - The contraction is consistent for 2 hours. Interval is about 8 - 10mins.
Start to think might be the real thing already.
Call Alfred who just reached Surabaya that night to come back.
Alfred faster call agency to look for air ticket and go straight to airport to get the first flight back to singapore!
(Jakarta got more flights to return to singapore than Surabaya)
Faster go bath and wash my hair to be ready to be admitted

4.45am - Tell mum that i having contractions. Then called Er Jie who send Alvin to come pick us up to hospital
5.45am - Reach Delivery suite of hospital
Was put on ctg and mid wife check my dilation.
Was told is a real labour , cervic is thin and I'm already 3cm.

** Shocked!! **

Was still telling the mid wife i'm not sure if i'm in real labour as my gynae just checked on monday and say my cervic is thick!

** Called alfred and say i'm really in labour!! And he also manage to buy the only business class ticket left for the 1st flight back to singapore.

6am - Given medicine to poo.

8.45am - Dr Lee told the nurse to give me drip to fastern the process

9.20am - Dr Lee came and I'm already 7cm dilated. He even mentioned that I got good pain threshold! Other people are already screaming till people at Botanic garden can hear
He burst the water bag and here comes the real pain!!
(I think I'm already more than half way there so no point getting epidual So ENDURE!!)
9.35am - Cannot stand the pain! Ask for laughing Gas!
This will really make you high! But is no use!!

Alfred plane touched down and was rushing to hospital at this time

10am - Ask for the tigh injection
Trust me, this is of no use!!
Don't waste $$
10.15am - Alfred finally reached hospital
Was already losing my control of the pain!!
Start to scream whenever the contraction come
The nurse start to prepare for delivery in a slow movement
Told the nurse after some time that I got the urge to push
(It really feels like you want to shit!!)
Dr Lee Came with 2 other midwifes
By this time, I'm already screaming like nobody's business!!
I'm sure those pregnant women in other room will be so scare by my screaming. =P

After a while - Little Reanne finally come out with some help from the vaccum!
Once she is out, delivering the palcenta and sewing of the opening is just nothing to compare with the pain!
* Delivery suite and the graph shows my contraction. *

38 week 5 days check up

Today went for my check up again. Baby R is 3120g. She gained another 100g in 4 days.
My gynae also do a V check for me to check if my cervic has soften and any dilation. Nothing so far. The check was not painful but quite uncomfortable. After the checkup, abit of spotting is normal.
After that went shopping with my mum n sis. During the time, some regular contraction were felt. But it was still minor. And now, no more contraction but I still feel uncomfortable at my pelvic. I wonder whether the V check will activate any real contraction today or these days? Or will I really have to continue to wait just like what my gynae say??

Tested & Proven!?!?

I always heard people drinking Coconut Drink in the last trimster.
It was suppose to help baby to be clean and fair when deliver!
So is this really true?
A fast research tells it all:-
In our country, coconuts have always been associated with health and prosperity and are present in some form or the other on many auspicious occasions. Young coconuts which have green shells (as opposed to the brown mature coconuts) are the ones with the most water content; this water is called coconut water or coconut juice.
Tender coconut water (elaneer / nariyal pani) is one of the richest sources of electrolytes. It is high in chlorides, potassium, and magnesium and has a moderate amount of sugar, sodium and protein. Potassium helps regulate blood pressure and heart function. Coconut water is also a good source of dietary fibre, manganese, calcium, riboflavin and Vitamin C.
A natural isotonic beverage with similar levels of electrolytes as the human body, coconut water helps prevent dehydration and relieves exhaustion by replenishing the natural salts lost by the body; it is widely used in tropical countries as a means for oral rehydration needed during diarrhoeal attacks.
It is essentially fat free and has zero cholesterol and some studies have reported that it can have some effect on improving "good" cholesterol levels (HDL) in the body. In the heat of summer when you are looking for something other than water to quench your thirst, you can have this nutritious and refreshing beverage instead of sugar and calorie laden aerated drinks and fruit juices. It is naturally sterile and so perfect for drinking while travelling without the fear of contamination.
Coconut water is a natural diuretic and so increases the flow of urine; this helps prevent urinary tract infections (UTI) as well as reduces the incidence of kidney stones. Coconut water also helps relieve constipation, improves intestinal function and promotes digestive health -– it is often recommended to people suffering from acidity and ulcers.
Constipation, sluggish digestion and heartburn are common problems during pregnancy and can be helped to some extent by drinking coconut water.
Coconut water contains high levels of lauric acid which is what is used by the body to make monolaurin -– a disease fighting fatty acid derivative. Lauric acid has anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties which protect the body against various infections and boosts the immune system.
With such wide ranging nutritional benefits it is no wonder that coconut water is recommended for pregnant women.
Since is so good! I bought coconut from NTUC as well! =P

Growing of my Tummy!!

This is my tummy at Week 13!

And the following photos will be the "growing" of my Tummy ever since!!

**38 Week Check up**

Just came back from my weekly check up. The first thing my gynae saw me is ask me, "So how? no news yet huh? Baby must be too comfortable inside!!"

Baby R weight is 3014g, added another 200g and the head perimeter (Side to side) is 93mm. Which he thinks is abit too big for me!

And till now, she has not engage yet! Don't know whether my pelvic is too small for her and she is too big for me, so she cannot fit in! My gynae use an example, my pelvic is like a golf hole and her head is suppose to be a golf ball. But as she grow bigger, she is becoming a basketball! So how can a basketball fit into a golf hole!!
I will be seeing Dr in a few days time! Hopefully got good news!

Week 37 Check Up

Today went for my 37 week check up. Baby R is 2809g, gaining about 119g. Seems abit little but since we don't want her to be too heavy and Dr lee also never mention anything, so i guess it should be ok bah!
As for the placenta, is still at the side of the Baby R's face!! So lets pray that Baby R can push the placenta away and dash through to the pathway faster than the placenta.
Baby R Jia You!!! Baby R Jia You!!! Baby R Jia You!!!

37 Week - Full Term

Week 37 of Pregnancy: Full-Term Baby

Your baby is gaining weight at about half an ounce per day. Since your little one is considered full-term now, if your baby was to leave the wet nest this week, he or she would likely thrive. That's because Mother Nature and you have done such a fine job.

With just three more weeks to go and at about six and a half pounds (though weight and height vary from fetus to fetus), your baby is doing just fine. You can expect weight gain to be about half an ounce per day. (Boys, though, are likely to be heavier at birth than girls. And here's a bit of boy baby trivia to back that one up: Moms carrying boys tend to eat more than moms carrying girls — a foreshadowing of teenage refrigerator raids to come.) Since your little one is considered full-term at 37 weeks pregnant, if your baby was to leave the wet nest this week, he or she would likely thrive. That's because Mother Nature and you have done such a fine job.
So what's keeping your little one busy while waiting it out until D-day? Practice, practice, practice. Your baby is simulating breathing by inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid, sucking on his or her thumb, blinking, and pivoting from side to side (one day you feel the tushy on the left side, another day it has swung around to the right side). All these are skills needed for his or her next gig — starring as newborn.

Here's an interesting fact: Your baby's head (which, by the way, is still growing) will, at birth, be the same size circumference as his or her hips, abdomen, and shoulders. And guess what's making an impression (literally) these days on those shoulders and hips: fat — causing little dimples in those cute elbows and knees, shoulders and hip, and creases and folds in the neck and wrists.
Yeah!! Baby R is full term already! Which means her lungs are fully developed and will not be consisder as premature even if she wants to come out now!
Hurray!!

** 1st Wedding Anniversary **

Today was a busy and tiring day! Got a fren's baby full month party, my maternity photoshoot and a dinner celebration for our wedding anniversary.
Till the last minute we still cannot decide where to go for our dinner! We got too many choices so in the end we went to Mount Faber which is very near to my photographer's house.
Before we go up to the restaurant, we visit the super nice toilet at the 1st floor.
Is a open concept overlooking sentosa!
** Some photos taken b4 we proceed to the resturant **
There are 2 resturants for dinning over at Mt Faber. Chinese or western food. We chosen the western food at Black Opal. The restaurant is open concept as well. Nice ambience with very attentive waitress and waiter.
** Food we ordered - Wild mushroom soup and Grilled chicken for me
French onion soup and T-bone steak for Alf **
I think only the wild mushroom soup is nice! =p
The rest are pretty normal, nothing much to rave about!

But still, I think we did enjoy our little own time together!

36 Week - The Last 4 weeks!

36 weeks plus going to 37 week very soon. During the last checkup, Baby R is 2690g, which is a gain of about 223g. I think still ok, not too much bah. She is not engage yet but Dr Lee did say that the placenta is at the side so hopefully it can move up more so that it wont block the way!
At 9mth plus pregnant, more contractions can be feel, more kickings from Baby R, more tired and worst more stretch marks!! Arragh!!!
As for the preparation to welcome Baby R, more or less should be done! Left abit of washing to go, do up the cot and some minor things to buy, we should be ready to welcome her!
Mr Leek insisted to pack my hospital bag last night so it was 3/4 done. But i got nothing much inside! How come ppl need to bring luggage there while my bag is still quite empty?!
My sudden "Ballon" tummy @ 36 week
(ppl still say is small aft the tummy ballon!)

From now on, is weekly checkup!

Active Baby R

Baby R is getting very active nowadays! But whenever I go take my camera to shoot her movement, she will act shy and don't move or be very gentle!

Can you all see the wave? That is actually the movement of Baby R!!

34 week - 我有一个小胖妞!!

Just came back from my gynae appointment. Was strapped onto CTG to see if I have any contraction and how active Baby R is.
Results show that she is pretty active. No real contractions so far only some tightening of the tummy. Which is fake contractions so is still ok.
Baby R put on 600+g, which means she is 2467g at this moment!! The weight i gained this 2 weeks all go to her! She is really a 小胖妞!!
Initially I was worried that I might need to csec because of my low placenta now the gynae said that if my 小胖妞 continue to grow at this rate, I will still have to csec.
Haiz, if she is smaller size we will scare she not enough nutrients and when she is bigger size I will scare I need to csec.
The worries will be endless......
Well as long as she is healthy will do bah

32 weeks aka 8 mths

Today Alf is in town so he went to see our precious gal together with me.
Most of the time he can only see her through photos so when he actually look at the computer, he cannot see where is the eyes, nose or mouth even when Dr Lee is pointing to him.
*Blur Daddy*
Baby R is 1848g already so she gained 300+g in 2 weeks time. So is Mummy! Gained too much weight this 2 weeks. Although Dr Lee never purposely tell me anything about my weight gain but i know myself is abit too much. So better keep my sugar intake! And remember to take more food that is rich in iron!!
But 1 thing that Dr Lee did mention is that the baby head is abit too big. Not that the head is bigger compare to other babies but might be too big for me! He say she must have follow her daddy's head! (-_-!!)
But we cannot do anything to stop baby's growth so let her grow on her own bah. Shall see how in the end!
@ 32 weeks (Tummy is getting bigger and rounder!!)

Not a good News!

Mummy R failed her blood test again! Iron is still low so Dr Lee gave another iron syrup and vitamin C supplement to add to my daily intake. But how much more am i taking right now leh? Normal preggy woman will juz take 1 iron pill per day. And for me, i taking 2 iron pills per day, 2 intake of iron syrum per day n 2 intake of vitamin C. Oh well, lets just hope that all these medicines will help me bah!
You must be wondering whats with the low iron. Let me explain to u all!
Iron deficiency is the most common cause of anemia. And if anemia is developed, the patient will feel dizzy (Not me!), tired (Yes, sleepy nowadays) and weak (Nope, i dun think so).
What worries me more is how anemia will affect baby's health and mine!
"Your baby does a good job taking care of his iron needs — he'll get his share before you do. If you remain anemic during the first two trimesters, though, you're at a higher risk for having a preterm delivery or a low-birthweight baby, so it is something to take seriously. And if you're severely deficient, it could affect your baby's iron stores at birth, increasing his risk for anemia later in infancy.Iron-deficiency anemia affects your health as well. It can sap your energy and make it harder for your body to fight infection. And if you're anemic later in pregnancy, you're more likely to have problems if you lose a lot of blood when you give birth. You may feel dizzy, have a rapid heart rate, or have other symptoms that require you to stay in the hospital an extra day or two. You're also more likely to need a blood transfusion."
I better be good and eat lots of food that are rich in iron!

Dinner at Nagae

A dinner out at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel with dear when he stop over a day before he fly off to China. Was suppose to eat at another japanese restaurant that sells original japanese pancakes. But as we go too last minute, there are no seats.
This resturant is quite a small with only 3 waitress working on a friday night. So responding time is pretty long. And the food, I can only say, so-so.
Japanese Pancakes will be a better choice. Haiz.
We ordered a cold soba with vegetables tempura(For me), a cold soba with grilled Chicken (Dear's), a miserable small soft shell crab and some sushi.
Although the food is so so but still I enjoyed the time spend with dear.

The Big 30!!

Yeah, Baby R is at 30 week now! Which means left less than 10weeks time!
Baby R is 1.506kg at this moment! Is abit fat!! From the average fetal weight, this should be about 31 week baby! Opps, I better control my carbo and sugar intake as gynae did say the maximum weight of the baby I can take should be about 2.8kg - 3.2kg. Anything bigger than that I might not be able to give birth naturally!
I'm also quite happy with my weight increase this round. I put on about 1.2kg so about half goes to the baby. Good!
Some other good news is the baby is still head down. So hopefully it will stays this way! And the palcenta is moving up! Great!

Will see my 小胖B in 2 weeks time!

Stroller

During the 2 weeks when Alf is in Singapore, we went to see stroller whenever we can.
Taka, Isetan Scotts, Isetan Parkway, Ubi, Kiddy Palace .... All places we can think of, we went to see. In the market, there are so many different strollers. But to find 1 that can fit all our conditions, there isn't ANY!!!
So no choice, we got to find the best out of the worst! Initially, we shortlist 2 stroller, Peg Perego Si and Combi Miracle Turn.
Personally I love Peg Perego Si the most! As I felt it look so much nicer than Combi!
Peg Perego Si
But the cons are, this stroller do not have a front bar and the baby cannot face us when we are pushing the stroller. Alf thinks is better to let the baby face us in the initial stage.
So no choice we have to give this up!
Then no choice, we left with Combi Miracle Turn. But then again, the color is stopping me to buy the stroller! Why, let me explain to you all.
Combi Miracle Turn got 3 version.
1st version, TJT-350
This version has 2 colours, Blue and Orange.
I don't like the colour! It just look like very "Chee Na".
Weight ( lightest of all 3 version) - 5.8kg
Price - $489
2nd Version - JTJ-450
2nd version got Purple and orange
Purple still acceptable as it look ABIT nicer compare with the other colours
Weight - 6.1kg (slightly heavier but I don't see this as much problem)
Wheels are said to be slightly bigger than the 1st version and more stable
BUT!!
Price - $629
3rd version
I cant find the pics online as is quite new. But is so much heavier than version 2 so we shall just forget about that!
So as you see, should I pay $140 more to get a slightly nicer colour?
Paying $600+ for a stroller seems too much?
Arragh, just don't understand why the company cannot just create a stroller that I like?
I just want the stroller to be:-
  • Not too heavy (6kg+/- is fine)
  • Must be small when we fold (Scare the car boot cannot put other things after putting the stroller)
  • Easy to fold (Can be fold by me standing up and no need to bend down)
  • All wheels can turn
  • Baby can face us
  • Got Front bar (Actually this can be optional)
  • Color must be nice!!

My conditions not difficult right? Why I just cannot find 1?

New Toy!!

We got a new toy! But this toy is not for Baby R but is for the Mummy!! =p
Yes, Alfred bought a new camera for me! This camera is for me to takes lots of photos when baby R is born! It even has a smile function so that we can take photos of her smiling!

Love the camera alot! Thanks Dear!

Jazz By the Beach - Sentosa

On Saturday, Alf and I went to sentosa to listen to Jazz By the Beach. It was pretty nice but is a pity we did not stay there too long as we got to meet his uncle.
Well at least we got some time together to have our dinner "by the beach". Although is just Carl's Junior but we enjoyed ourselves. As we got to see "Muscle Tan Guys and Sexy high heel ladies" =P
When will be our next dinner together?!?!?! hmm..........

5th Year Anniversary & 3rd Trimester Celebration

Today marks our 5th year together and me going into my 3rd trimester!
Early in the morning, we went to the clinic to see our little princess! She weights about 991g, almost 1kg by 27 week! Woah! And I put on about 1.6kg this month! (Arragh!)
Dr Lee says she is already in downward position. Most babies will stay in this position only a few baby will still turn around. Hopefully Baby R will be good and stay this position!
** Left pic: Can see the arm on top of her face. Her lips slightly open; Right pic: Can see her eyes **

People still says my tummy is small, don't look like 27 weeks! But I feel is big! Dr Lee did says is ok. And mention there are lots of woman in the hospital trying to loss their tummy when they are not pregnant!
** My Tummy **

For dinner celebration, we went to eat ShabuShabu at Illuma. Wrong choice! Not because of the food but the jam all bcos of F1 thingy!

We finally celebrate together after so many years! I even forgot today is our anniversary till Alf remind me. (Opps! Pregnant woman really got short memory!)
** In the car while waiting for the car to move!! **
** Our delicious Dinner **
